Due in early April 2012 from our newest addition to the broodmare band will be a 2012 foal by Rodioso out of the beautifully bred 2001 Swedish mare Belladonna. “Bella” is an imported Swedish mare by the classic sire DeNiro out of an Argentinus mare. We are very excited to have this lovely mare that goes back to the classic sire Donnerhall. The Donnerhall/Rubinstein cross is one of the most sought after nicks in all of Dressage breeding. We are very thankful to Karen Ford on her willingness to lease us this lovely mare. Bella’s first foal is a stunning 2006 filly by Florencio (Florestan/Weltmeyer) that she carried in utero to the USA when imported from Sweden as a three year old. That filly resides in Colorado. Bella is a big, typy mare with fantastic gaits and a wonderful kind temperament that makes her the charmer of the barn. The pedigree on this foal contains one of every classic dressage horse in Europe. We are most excited about this upcoming foal. Bella will be presented to the Oldenburg Verband in 2012 and the foal will be registered as an Oldenburg. Private treaty sale after foaling.

Due in early April 2012 will be the 8th foal from Witty. Witty was foaled here at Derby Farms in 2000. She is from one of our best thoroughbred producers and is by our old foundation sire Weisswein. Witty was a Premium Oldenburg foal and is in the main mare book for both the GOV and ISR/Old NA. Her first foal was a Premium colt by Rubigon (Rubinstein/Donnerhall) Rudolph Valentino. Her next colt was by Rodioso and also went premium, Rocket I. Her third colt, Reno (Rodioso) made his FEI 5YO debut this year with a 72%. Her next offspring was a charming filly named Ryphon (Rodioso) and the following foal was another Premium colt named Rocket II (Rodioso) who will make his training level debut in 2012. He was followed by Rumpus (Rodioso), a Premium filly and this past year she gave us Rosetta (Rodioso), a stunning chestnut filly. Witty’s 2012 foal is due in early April and is by Rodioso. Witty has a wonderful temperament and is an “8” on gaits. She is 16.0 hh and is sound and healthy. The foal will be registered Oldenburg. All her foals have been wonderful to start and work their distinctive characteristic is their wonderful temperaments. They are definite amateur prospects.
