Romney

Pictured here at 3 days old, Romney is the 2011 class clown at Derby Farms. Born on May 23, 2011 to the Hanoverian mare Graesan (Golfball/Grundstein I), this cute colt started on day one endearing himself to anyone who walked by the stall. He follows everyone everywhere, licks boots, gives kisses, eats out of your hand and in general acts more like a puppy-dog than a horse. His bouncy way of going and charming way of looking at you out of the corner of his eye make him one of our favorites. Owned by Tess Wallace of Kirkland, Washington, Romney is going to stay right here at Derby Farms and become a wonderful amateur dressage horse for Ms. Wallace and win lots of blues.

Rainier

Foaled on Friday the 13th in June this gorgeous colt with the beautiful head is anything but unlucky. He is turning black like his sire and is the class clown of the barn. He has wonderful floating gaits and at his inspection the GOV said "very pretty and typy colt". He is out of a new mare for us, Oncoeur, a Holsteiner mare by Coriander and we love what she gave us. She is bred back for 2009 and we are keeping this little fellow as a future top-notch dressage horse. At his Oldenburg N.A. inspection he was given an 8.4 on gaits! Currently under saddle he has the talent to become an FEI star like his sire.
